On Monday the school celebrated the Chinese New Year. Grade 6, 7 & 8 presented an assembly on the theme of Chinese New Year and after that they taught the younger kids Chinese New Year traditions with different activities. At lunch time, they tasted some Chinese food which they really like. Grade 6, 7 & 8 did a fantastic job. It was a very successful celebration and everyone had a nice time. A big thanks to their engagement.

This week students painted their final masks according to the drafts they designed. Almost all the students completed their summative assessment within limited time. Well done.

Beijing opera is one of the most beautiful forms of art in China and it has about 200 years of history. This week students have been introduced the history of Beijing opera and the four main characters in the Beijing opera. Student have learned that facial painting is very important in Beijing opera.

Students did research about difference between Norwegian eating habits and Chinese eating habits. In order to extend their learning, the school bought some Chinese dishes from a Chinese restaurant in Asker to taste. All the students enjoyed the event.

Students have learned location words this week, such as 上, 下, 里. They practised these locations words with pictures. Students participated summative assessment and did self-assessment as well. Most students did a good job in their final tests.

This week, students were required to make a dialogue in groups on the food topic and role-played the dialogue with their classmates. They also used new vocabulary and sentence structures to write a short play with their group members. and performed them in front of the class.

In this week, students have learned to say the foods they like to eat, the foods they love to eat and the foods they want to eat as well. They are also able to talk about the foods they extremely love and dislike. Students have been practising different ways to express their preference.

Students will learn food and culture based on their discussions and interest for this unit. This week, they have learned an amount of vocabulary related to foods and drinks, such as 水, 饺子,水饺,包子,汉堡,薯条,香蕉,三文治 etc. They also played a role as a waiter or customer in a restaurant.

Students did summative assessment for unit one last week. They took a listening comprehension test and also performed their short plays in groups. I was impressed with students' improvement on their speaking and listening abilities. I recorded their voices when they performed their group work. Please enjoy.

Students have learned how to ask for /say of the week this week. They did some group work to practise what we have learned for this unit. They also learned to wish someone a happy birthday and sing a birthday song.

Grade 7 has practised new words and sentences we have learned with different games and activities this week. I am quite impressed with their abilities to speak and understand Chinese.
