Wednesday 31st May
Grade 7 students have been busy studying a chosen religion. They have been using their class time to research about the religion and writing their information reports. They have also enjoyed some focus lessons on different religions.


Unit 4 - Tourism and Conflict

Related concepts: Choice, Equity, Responsibility
Statement of Inquiry: Perspective and informed choices allow us to be responsible tourists in a global world.

Factual - What is tourism?
Conceptual - How can I change my perspective?
Debatable - To what extent have I changed my opinion on tourism?

Unit 3 - Climates and Ecosystems

Statement of Inquiry: Climate and human action impact our natural systems.

Factual - What is an ecosystem?
Conceptual - What kind of role does climate play in determining what an ecosystem is like?

Thursday 12th January
By using their understanding of factors that affect Climate, Grade 7 completed a task that required them to determine the climate of locations on an imaginary world. They then needed to identify a similar location of a real city using the atlas.




Monday 9th January

Unit 1 - Ancient Greece

Statement of Inquiry: Turning points in humankind can be traced to changes of systems in the natural and built environments.

Factual - What geographic features dominated the landscape?
Conceptual - What makes a great civilization?
Debatable - Have the Greek's been more influential to our lives than any other ancient civilization?

Tuesday 27th September, 2016
Grade 7 students have recently been busy presenting their Summative Assessments and have had some feedback sent home with them today to discuss with parents.

Further to that, as part of our preparations for UN Day, the students commenced an activity addressing their understanding of the United Nations Global Goals.

Students will be preparing a single frame comic strip, which should show:
If you could have any superpower, what would it be? How would you use this superpower to address one of the global goals?



Friday 9th September, 2016
Moving on from the Persian Wars, this week's learning focus has been on famous Greek leaders. The student's have been required to work collaboratively to research a chosen leader. Further to that, they have been challenged to think critically by writing the learner profile attribute their leader possesses most with reasons and examples given.



Wednesday 31st August, 2016
Grade 7 have made a successful start to their inquiry into Ancient Greece. Students have explored how the geography of Greece impacted settlement and also daily life. They have analyzed and compared the life of an Athenian and Spartan in Ancient times. This week the focus has moved onto the Persian Wars.
