Summative Assessment example
31/5/2017
Dear Mr. Cringle,
This letter is regarding the allowance and usage of mobile phones in Grade 7 at Asker International School. It is a known fact to at least everyone in Grade 7 that mobile phones are rather helpful in aiding yourself or others.
First of all, mobile phones can connect to the internet which is a source of information and that can be done anywhere in the school building due to wifi. Using the phones for something like research in the classroom is more practical and efficient that lining the whole of 7th Grade up and walking to the computer room and back while giving the exact same results because it is also via the internet.
In addition, 19 / 20 of all the students in Grade 7 prefer using mobile phones in the class compared to never being allowed to use any according to a survey done in the class involving all the students. It is undeniably convincing enough that the extensive majority of the class expressed they welcome the allowance of their mobile phones.
Furthermore, during the lessons that were dedicated to the preparation of writing this letter in which mobile allowed and used, there was a more noticeable increase in productivity because at least half of the class utilized their phones to help them and others. Even the students who didn’t bring one could still get information from people with a mobile phone since they can be shared. In this way, not only was there less need to go around and ask for help by interrupting others, but also everyone in the room could work better.
Although on the other hand, in every lesson where mobile phones were allowed, there was always some time given to make sure that everyone would only use their phones for educational purposes and this costs time as well as people going to their lockers to get their phones. Despite the time wasted by this, the fact that work can done faster as well as more efficient with a mobile phone at hand than without saves time and the amount of time saved is outsizes the few minutes that would be invested to achieve this result.
In conclusion, considering every single advantage mentioned as well as the disadvantage of Grade 7 using mobile phones in class there is still far more reason to recommend the allowance of mobile phones being used and potentially could help in the long term with a negative side that can be overcome with your support of permitting Grade 7 to use their phones inside the classroom.

Sincerely,
Edward Ma
